Some of the hottest items in golf this year weren’t golf clubs, training aids, balls or accessories. It was technology. The emergence of GPS, Range finders and swing analyzers are all the buzz. As technology has emerged, so has smartphone apps which provide both stat tracking and GPS.
Your average laser range finer and golf GPS units run ($69.98 – $499.99) (average cost = $199.99 via www.golfsmith.com). Unfortunately that investment is a little steep for the average working class golfer with a family who plays once a week. The good news is that the cost of these electronic devices are have become more affordable.
Better news yet is that there are some smartphone applications that can do the same job at a fraction of the cost. Although few offer the type of stat tracking, self improvement tools and sophistication as the Golf Logix smartphone app.
When I say a fraction, I mean $19.99 for the app and an optional upgrade (additional $19.99) which unlocks Golf Digest Live.
