Episode 18: 3 Tips to Gain Consistency Without Sacrificing Distance
Are you always searching for the fairway? Consistency is the key to scoring lower. The golf club manufacturers will tell you golf is a speed and distance game. Well, that’s just not true. As a general rule, gaining 10 yards or distance means gaining 10 yards of dispersion in most cases. Playing from the fairway is going to produce a better, more predicable outcome than playing from the rough or the woods.
Playing with more consistency doesn’t mean making wholesale changes to your fundamentals or your swing. It’s simple and it starts by adapting a mindset that consistency and accuracy trump distance. Forget about trying to hit the ball farther because that is more likely to cause you to regress. In this episode, I’ll tell you why that’s true and I will share my 3 tips to help you find more consistency without sacrificing distance. This is simple stuff and these tips work for every club in the bag, especially the driver. With a routine and a little practice, these tips will provide some confidence and consistency.
